What could be better than savoring a balanced, leggy, full bodied glass of vino? Savoring a balanced, leggy, full bodied Vinyasa! Come begin your festival day and avoid a Friday Night Fever with energizing sun salutations and playful arm balances. This will be a fun-filled hour and a half of Vinyasa flow that will stimulate your mind, body and spirit to uplifting music from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. No commercial breaks, but you are allowed to take a child’s pose or two if you need it (or, instead, a Kid ‘n Play).

Joan Hyman ~ Unlocking the Key and Feel the Heart in Backbends ~ (asana)

Feel the heart, the gratitude, and enjoyment that backbends offers. Explore the techniques to help different body types access these heart opening poses and fun variations to help you breathe with ease and experience contentment in these deep poses. Learn the foundation of a solid backbend practice through understanding the shoulder girdle alignment, stabilizing the pelvis, and breathing techniques. We will explore inversions and fun variations of backbends in a safe and grounded way making them accessible to all!

Robert Sturman ~ Yoga Photography for Everyone ~ (workshop)

Discover the secrets of how to make powerful, poetic images celebrating the beautiful art of yoga. Aspiring models and yogis: learn what it takes to get great pictures. Photography enthusiasts: learn about composition, balance, integration of the pose with the environment, connecting with the model, and much more. Come be the photographer, model, artist, muse–or all of the above. Bring your camera, phone, questions, and curiosity. Lecture with interactive photo shoots.

Gaura Vani ~ Kirtan ~ (music)

Gaura Vani is a multi-disciplinary artist fluent in music, film and visual arts, and is most known for his Mantra Music performances. His events are unifying and transporting – a mix of participatory rhythm and song, story and dance. He performs both as a solo artist and with his sacred music ensembles “The Hanumen” and “As Kindred Spirits.” Gaura Vani performs regularly at eclectic venues, including Lollapalooza, Bhakti Fest and Wanderlust, and co-produced the sold-out Chant4Change Kirtan Festival in Washington DC during President Obama’s inauguration.

Sheela Bringi ~ Kirtan ~ (music)

Indian American musician Sheela Bringi has been exploring the connections between her ancestral and actual homelands her entire life. The talented singer and multi-instrumentalist’s debut album in February 2014 was a milestone in a young career rooted in the integrity of India’s classical music tradition and the beauty of its mantras, as well as a groundbreaking exploration of American blues and jazz.

Manoj & Jyothi Chalam ~ Hindu Deities and Their Meanings ~ (workshop)

The statues and mythological stories you often see/hear in yoga classes have hidden symbolic meaning and relate to archetypes within us. Discover how these ancient teachings have practical relevance to your life and yogic practice. Knowing the 4 ways to work with your archetype can profoundly shift you, ultimately leading to Self Realization. Jyothi will also chant and explain the spiritual meaning and significance of Kirtans.

Sreedevi K. Bringi ~ Sacred Sanskrit for Mantra and Kirtan ~ (workshop)

Contemplative practice in the rich sonic power of Sanskrit sounds. Experience Sanskrit as a sacred birthing of conscious sound, music, word and speech. Using five precise mouth-and-tongue positions, learn about the gross-to-subtle levels of awareness embedded in all vowels, consonants, and mantra. Sample kirtan chants, deity mantras, and universal prayers will be taught, changed and explained. Practice audio tracks/CDs and handouts provided for practice in Sacred Sanskrit.

Wah! reinvents the genre of kirtan chant with her synthesis of Sade-like production and traditional Sanskrit mantras. Her mesmerizing, hypnotic voice bridges the ancient art of kirtan with the contemporary, ecstatic sound of western culture. Drawing from both current trends and ancient traditions, this music is infused with pop, reggae and folk melodies. If you’ve taken a yoga class in the last five years, you have no doubt heard Wah! and her indisputably unique, sultry voice.

Pete Guinosso ~ The Alchemy of the Heart ~ (asana)

Open yourself to a life of grace! Explore the transformative emotion of gratitude and how it can help break the tendency to focus on what is “wrong” – with our bodies, our lives and our world. Learn to use this powerful practice to manage feelings of worry, anxiety and depression. In this workshop you will: Utilize deep hip releases to detoxify the mindbody of negative emotions that keep us from fully experiencing joy. Discover heart opening backbends to feel where joy and gratitude reside in our bodies.

Explore inversions to tap into our spirits’ sense of playfulness. At the end of this workshop, you will have a platform on which to explore mindful appreciation, helping you to connect to the abundance that is available in your life, your relationships, and your world.

Sheela Bringi ~ Live Music Yoga Nidra (‘Yogic Sleep’) ~ (asana)

Flow into a blissful state of relaxation and heightened awareness in that space between sleep and wakefulness, where communication with the subconscious and unconscious occurs spontaneously. Sheela Bringi leads meditations with her speaking voice, interspersed with live harp, bamboo flute, raga singing and mantra recitation. Group sacred singing and bija mantra chanting is also incorporated.

Yoga Nidra (Yogic Sleep in Sanskrit) is a powerful guided meditative relaxation methodology developed by the Bihar School of Yoga in India. It is a powerful tool to develop higher levels of concentration, memory, and creativity, and promotes deep relaxed brain states for self-healing.

Scott & Shanti Medina ~ Kirtan ~ (music)

Scott and Shanti Medina are a dynamic husband/wife duo combining the bhakti of devotional chanting with the deep captivation of mantra, offering an ecstatic journey through the rhythms and potency of sacred sound. Scott’s classical guitar training and heartfelt spirit inspired him to share devotional chanting after being on staff at Omega Institute Rhinebeck, NY where he began his training in the art of kirtan over 20 years ago. Shanti began sharing her love of chanting over 10 years ago when she received her Yoga and Pranic Healing certifications. Their chants are universally accessible and easy to follow creating an atmosphere of ecstatic devotional connection and sweet bhakti bliss.

Rusty Wells ~ Bhakti Flow ~ (asana)

Experience a unique dynamic session designed to take the seasoned practitioner to a new level. This challenging class, wrapped in love and devotion, will introduce students to Rusty’s signature freestyle vinyasa class. A Bhakti Flow experience sets the stage for spontaneous meditation to occur. It is a prayer-filled dance to the Beloved. Come prepared to sing, sweat and flow!

With a string of best-selling and much-loved albums, Donna De Lory has become one of the reigning queens of world devotional music. Her rapturous performances at yoga and consciousness festivals like BhaktiFest, Omega and Lightning in a Bottle are like one big musical group hug. Before devoting her life to singing sacred mantras and lyrics of spiritual aspiration, Donna traveled the globe for 20 years as a backup singer and dancer for Madonna, and rocked international dancefloors with her own pop music.

Join Grammy-nominated Jai Uttal for an evening of unity and Bhakti! Jai is a pioneer in the world music community, and his eclectic east-meets-west sound has put his music at the forefront of the would-fusion movement. His musical roots embrace a rich variety of cultures and traditions that span the globe and the centuries. From the hillbilly music of the Appalachian Mountains to the passionate strains of Bengali street singers, from the haunting rhythms and melodies of ancient India to contemporary electric rock sounds, Jai’s music distills the essence of diverse musical forms.

The practice will begin with a focus on releasing habitual holding patterns in the body-mind that identify with a reactive un-conscious self, and encourage a perspective of acceptance mixed with curiosity around what is present. From there we’ll explore creative vinyasa’s designed to help embody a more restful mind and revived spirit. Class will end with a yoga nidra meditation to encourage the integration of the letting go and the letting be.
